8 August 2008 Significant Weather Media Release Cold snap set to return to NSW on SundayIn the wake of the cold front that brought snow, sleet and hail to parts of the NSW and the ACT on Thursday, a second front is set to sweep across southeastern Australia on Sunday bringing another wintry blast. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Sheep Graziers Warning with snowfalls expected as low as 600-700m elevation through the southern and central ranges of NSW and the ACT including Orange, Bathurst and possibly Katoomba and areas around Goulburn. Mr Chris Webb, Senior Meteorologist in the NSW office of the Bureau of Meteorology, said "It's a timely reminder to people considering travel on the weekend to take care when driving and keep a close eye on the latest weather information for Sunday. Snowfalls of this type aren't particularly rare in winter and although we aren't expecting large amounts of snow, driving conditions could be hazardous." Useful Links:
