MONTHLY CLIMATE SUMMARY - NORTHERN TERRITORY

Northern Territory in December 2005

Dry conditions were seen over the northeast corner of the Territory, about the eastern Top End and Gulf Country. There were also a couple of regions of above average falls. The biggest rainfalls were recorded in the Katherine region, with widespread substantial falls during the last week or so of the month. The southwest of the Territory also recorded above average falls for the month.

Overall the NT was slightly warmer than normal in December, though there were some regions that experienced cooler than average conditions, including the base of the Top End and east coast and gulf country.

Minimum temperatures were generally above average in December. Anomalies were mostly small, except for parts of the Alice Springs district, with some anomalies exceeding 2oC.

A table of Territory extremes, some new records, and summaries for sites across the Territory appear below.
