MONTHLY CLIMATE SUMMARY - NORTHERN TERRITORY
Not much rain fell in the Territory during September 2006, though there was the odd shower about here and there, mostly light. The dry September perpetuates an ongoing dry spell in the far southeast of the Territory, where 12-month rainfall figures are approaching their lowest 10% of historical values.
Temperatures were above normal in the south. In the north maximum temperatures were generally close to normal, but minimums were much cooler than the long-term mean, most notably in the Victoria River district, with departures from average of 3-4oC. A particularly cold burst was evident early in the month and several centres, including Darwin, recorded their coldest September night on record. See the records tables for more detail.
