Dust storm sweeps across Queensland interior
Extensive areas of dust are moving east across the Queensland interior today
behind a vigorous trough. At 10am this morning, the dust front extended from
around Mount Isa down to the St George region of the State. The dust front is
expected to continue to move east and affect the Central Highlands region and
the south-east of the State during the afternoon and overnight.
The dust storm has caused severe reductions in visibility. This morning, Windorah and Charleville
reported visibility down to 300 metres, Thargomindah reported visibility to 500 metres,
and St George to 700 metres.
People are advised to consider what action to take to mitigate the impact of the dust on their health.
