MEDIA RELEASE - QUEENSLAND REGIONAL OFFICE
Dust storm continues to sweep across Queensland
Extensive areas of dust have been moving east across the Queensland interior today
behind a vigorous trough. At 4pm, the dust front extended from the Mt Isa area
down to the eastern Darling Downs, just west of Toowoomba. The dust front is expected
to continue to move east and affect the Central Highlands region and the south-east
of the State during the night.
The dust storm has caused severe reductions in visibility. This afternoon, Roma reported visibility
down to 100 metres, and Dalby and Surat reported visibility to 500 metres.
People are advised to consider what action to take to mitigate the impact of the dust on their health.
This rare event can be seen on weather satellite imagery available on the Bureau's
