MEDIA RELEASE - SOUTH AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL OFFICE
New wind recorder installed for Adelaide waters
The Bureau of Meteorology has installed a new wind recorder in Adelaide's metropolitan waters. Located on the Black Pole, about five kilometres north-west and seaward of Outer Harbour, the recorder will provide the Bureau and the public with real-time information on winds over metropolitan waters.
Average wind observations are updated every 10 minutes and are available at the Bureau website: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDS65012.shtml (refer: Outer Harbour (Black Pole))
The wind recorder joins a number of automatic weather stations across South Australia that supply valuable real-time weather data. The latest installation was assisted through a $5000 grant from the State's Recreational Facilities Levy Fund. Portscorp helped install the recorder.
