MEDIA STATEMENT - SOUTH AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL OFFICE Extreme Daily Rainfall for November in SASeveral stations in the Mount Lofty Ranges recorded their highest daily (24 hourly) rainfall totals for the month of November. In the 24 hour period ending 9am on the 8 November 2005 some stations in the higher parts of the Mount Lofty Ranges had the following record rainfall amounts. Bridgewater: 79.2mm : previous highest 74.2mm on 8/11/1934 (130 years of record). Lobethal: 84.4mm : previous highest 80.8mm on 18/11/1964 (122 years of record ). Millbrook: 78.0mm : previous highest 54.6mm on 18/11/1964 (92 years of record). Uraidla: 118.2mm : previous highest 78.5 mm on 27/11/1952 (116 years of record). Gumeracha: 83.4mm : previous highest 53.3mm on 19/11/1906 (137 years of record).
In Adelaide the 24 hour rainfall total to 9am on the 8/11/2005 was 44.8mm. This is the highest daily November rainfall since 61mm was reported on 18/11/1964, while the highest daily November rainfall was 75.2mm on 12/11/1960. Rainfall records in Adelaide began in 1839.
Other centres recorded high daily rainfalls but were not their highest November amounts on record. Truro: 42.4mm : 4th highest November rainfall, and the highest since 47.5mm recorded on 19/11/1906. (99 years of record) Tanunda: 41.2mm : 2nd highest November rainfall and the highest since 64.8mm recorded on 19/11/1906. (99 years of record) Myponga: 44.2mm : 4th highest November and the highest since 46mm on 20/11/1978. (91 years of record) Mt Pleasant: 45mm : 4th highest November and the highest since 45.7mm recorded on 18/11/1964. (99 years of record)
