Significant Weather Systems

An El Nino event, combined with cold waters off northern Australia prevented trade winds from bringing  moisture to our continent, leading to low humidities and mostly clear skies.

Melbourne Summary

Melbourne CBD received 71 mm of rain (normal: 175 mm), the average minimum temperature was 10.6 deg C (normal: 10.4 deg C) and the average maximum temperature was 21.4 deg C (normal: 19.5 deg C). Several suburbs experienced their driest Spring on record. The combined winter-spring rainfall for the city was only 165 mm, the lowest on record (previous record: 175 mm in 1982).
