January record hot spell in North West WA
Many centres in the Pilbara and neighbouring districts have broken their record
mean maximum temperatures for the month of January. Nyang averaged 44.8°C,
the hottest January ever recorded anywhere in Australia. This figure also equalled
the Australian record for any month, previously set in February 1998 also at Nyang.
