Rest of the figures remain unchanged MONTHLY CLIMATE SUMMARY - WESTERN AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL OFFICE Wettest June for thirty-seven years in Perth(updated)Rainfall well above average: The city received 251.0 millimetres of rainfall over 19 days in June compared with the average of 179 mm over 16 days. This was the wettest June since the 260.4 mm in 1968. Historically, June rainfall has ranged from 54.9 mm in 1877 to 476.1 mm in 1945. Last June Perth recorded 123.2 mm over 18 days. Total rainfall for January to June this year was 525.2 mm compared with the average of 384 mm, making it the wettest start to the year since the 526.4 mm in 1970. The highest daily rainfall in June 2005 occurred on the 7th with 52.2 mm, which was the wettest day in June since the 53.0 mm on 4 June 2002. Mean daily maximum temperature below average: Perth's mean daily maximum temperature in June was 18.0 degrees Celsius compared with the average of 19.2 degrees. This was the lowest mean maximum for June since the 17.9 degrees in 1995. Daily maxima ranged from a cold 11.5 degrees on the 12th, the lowest June daily maximum temperature since the 10.4 degrees on 24 June 1966, to a warm 23.0 degrees on the 1st. Mean daily minimum temperature near average: Perth's mean daily minimum temperature in June was 9.0 degrees Celsius, compared with the average of 8.9 degrees. Minima ranged from a cold 2.8 degrees on the 21st to a mild 15.4 degrees on the 4th, the highest daily minimum temperature for June since the 15.4 degrees on 13 June 2000. Perth's mean daily sunshine hours in June was 4.8 hours which was below
the average of 5.8 hours, making it the least sunny June since the 4.4
hours in 1991.

On average, July is one of Perth's coldest months. Wet and windy periods
with cool and cloudy days are common, though there can be sunny days with
light winds and cold nights. In July 1958, Perth experienced its second
wettest month on record with 425.1mm on 25 days.
** Denotes the lowest minimum temperature for July on record on the following dates: 15 July 1997 and 27 July 1998. Warm days in July: On average, Perth can expect six days when the maximum temperature is 20 degrees or more. The greatest number of such days in July was 14 days in 1976 and 1977. Last July, Perth recorded three such days. Cold days in July: On average, Perth can expect one day when the maximum temperature is 15 degrees or less. The greatest number of such days in July was 12 in 1916. Last July, Perth recorded one such day. Cold nights in July: Perth has a mean of eight cold nights, when the minimum temperature is 5 degrees or lower. The greatest number of such nights was 16 in 1998. Last July, Perth recorded eleven such nights.
Note: Official Perth observations have been recorded at several different sites with varying instrumentation over the years, and these changes can affect the continuity of the climate record. For the current Mt Lawley site, the most significant changes of this kind relate to temperature and rain days. For that reason, current mean temperature and rain-day data quoted here are based only on readings from the Mt Lawley site, which commenced observations in 1993.
