Tropical Cyclone Freddy

Western Australian Regional Office

Track of Tropical Cyclone Freddy

A tropical low formed over the northwest Kimberley on 3 February and moved steadily west. The development of the low was restricted by strong vertical wind shear and the system wasn’t named until early on 7 February, well offshore from the Western Australian coastline.

TC Freddy intensified briefly to a category 2 on 8 February before weakening again and beginning a more southwesterly movement. TC Freddy weakened below cyclone strength late on 10 February as it moved over colder water in the central Indian Ocean.
