The Heatwave Forecast is a Bureau of Meteorology product that shows the location of heatwaves, severe heatwaves and extreme heatwaves for the last two three-day periods and the next five three-day periods. It uses some analysis Numerical Weather Prediction model data, not the Official Forecast data.

Please refer to official Bureau of Meteorology products for information on how hot each day and night will be during the three day period.

This product utilises model forecast data and is supplied for evaluation purposes and service interruptions are possible.

Heatwave Forecasts

Heatwave Situation for Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday (3 days starting 23/10/2017)

Low intensity heatwave conditions spread across central and western parts of the Top End.

Heatwave Situation for Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday (3 days starting 24/10/2017)

Low intensity heatwave conditions spread further across the NT's Top End with localised patches of severe intensity identified through the far northwest corner of the Top End.

Heatwave Situation for Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday (3 days starting 25/10/2017)

Low intensity heatwave conditions expand across the Top End reaching severe intensity at some inland locations. Very small areas of low intensity heatwave conditions are forecast to develop about the WA/NT border and also through northwest Queensland.

Heatwave Situation for Thursday, Friday, & Saturday (3 days starting 26/10/2017)

Low intensity heatwave conditions expand through much of the northern half of the NT reaching severe at some inland locations of the Top End. Low intensity heatwave conditions are also forecast to spread through the northwest and central interior of Queensland.

Heatwave Situation for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday (3 days starting 27/10/2017)

A broad low intensity heatwave becomes established across the Kimberley, northern half of the NT and northern & central interior of Queensland. Localised severe conditions are forecast possibly reaching extreme for inland locations of the Top End.
