Widespread low to locally severe intensity heatwave conditions across southeast Australia predominantly through southwest QLD and NSW. Low to locally severe heatwave conditions also extend across the country's tropical north, mainly through northern WA.

Widespread low to locally severe intensity heatwave conditions across southeast Australia predominantly through southwest QLD and NSW. Low to locally severe heatwave conditions also extend across the country's tropical north, mainly through northern WA.

The Heatwave Forecast is a Bureau of Meteorology product that shows the location of heatwaves, severe heatwaves and extreme heatwaves for the last two three-day periods and the next five three-day periods. It uses some analysis Numerical Weather Prediction model data, not the Official Forecast data.

Please refer to official Bureau of Meteorology products for information on how hot each day and night will be during the three day period.

This product utilises model forecast data and is supplied for evaluation purposes and service interruptions are possible.

Heatwave Forecasts

Heatwave Situation for Thursday, Friday, & Saturday (3 days starting 14/12/2017)

Broad area of low to severe intensity heatwave conditions extends across tropical northern parts of the country, extending down through central parts of WA. A separate area of focus is the low to severe heatwave conditions that extends over southern QLD and most of NSW.

Heatwave Situation for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday (3 days starting 15/12/2017)

Broad area of low to severe intensity heatwave conditions extends across large parts of the country including eastern half of WA, with a second area of focus through QLD and NSW.

Heatwave Situation for Saturday, Sunday, & Monday (3 days starting 16/12/2017)

Broad area of low to severe intensity heatwave conditions across central to southeastern parts of the country with a particular concentration of a large area of severe to locally extreme conditions across central Australia sweeping across northeast SA, southern NT, southwest QLD and through NSW.

Heatwave Situation for Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday (3 days starting 17/12/2017)

Patches of low to severe intensity heatwave conditions across northern Australia. A large area of severe to locally extreme heatwave conditions extends across southeast Australia sweeping across southwest QLD and through NSW including adjacent areas across the various state boundaries.

Heatwave Situation for Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday (3 days starting 18/12/2017)

Patchy low to locally severe heatwave conditions across northern Australia. Extensive area of severe heatwave conditions across southwest QLD and through NSW with locally extreme conditions along NSW's mid north coast.
