A cloud band over northeastern SA, inland parts of southern and central Qld and
much of NSW is associated with a disturbance in the middle and upper levels of
the atmosphere.

A weak surface trough is responsible for widespread cloud across southwest
corner of WA continues to bring further low to mid level cloud onshore.
Subsiding air beneath a strong high pressure system west of Tasmania is trapping
moisture near the surface, which is evident as the broad swathe of dark grey
clouds over waters and coastal regions south and west of Tas.

A vigorous cold front evident to the far southwest of the continent is expected
to bring a wintry burst of weather to the south coast of WA later this weekend.

The deep tropics of the continent remain mostly cloud free at this time.
