Satellite Notes for the 1200UTC chart on 23 April 2014.

Issued at 11:00 pm EST Wednesday on 23 April 2014

Scattered thunderstorms and showers are occurring over the northeast tropics of Australia with a band of middle level cloud streaming across the northeast of the NT and northeast Queensland and into the Coral Sea. This cloud mass is associated with a broad area of low pressure in conjunction with a trough in the middle levels of the atmosphere.

Isolated showers over northeast Victoria and southeast parts of New South Wales is due to another surface trough and weak low pressure system in the region.

Middle and high level cloud streaming across much of the eastern Indian Ocean and over the central parts of the WA coast is associated with a low pressure system located further to the west.

The cloud band that extends over the Great Australian Bight is associated with a cold front approaching southeastern states.
