IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 0000UTC Chart Issued at 11:58 am EST Monday on 23 May 2022 Low clouds associated with a surface trough along the New South Wales coast is responsible for the persistent showers the coastal fringe eastern seaboard from the NSW/VIC border north to the central Queensland coast. A weakening cold front is moving off the south coast of Western Australia with embedded thunderstorms over waters. A second, more vigorous, front is moving over the coast of southern WA affecting Perth and nearby rural communities. A severe weather Warning for locally destructive winds and heavy rain is in force for land areas south of Geraldton and west of Hopetoun. A surface trough towards Christmas Island and an associated upper-level feature are responsible for a band of cloud across the Pilbara and the interior of Western Australia. Subsidence from a near-stationary high over Tasmania is leading to low cloud across the state. The remainder of the continent remains mostly cloud free.
