IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 1800UTC chart 19 January 2017 Issued at 6:12 am EDT Friday on 20 January 2017 A trough with embedded low pressure systems extends from the Pilbara district of WA through central SA and to western VIC. Thunderstorms can be seen in the vicinity of this trough. A moist north to northwest windflow covers a broad area to the north of the trough, triggering thunderstorms over northern WA, the Top End in NT and the northern parts of QLD. Low cloud along the NSW coast as well as the southern coastal areas of the continent is due to onshore windflow. Middle level cloud streaming across TAS and into the Tasman sea is due to an upper trough to the west of TAS.
