Showers and thunderstorms are active across the Kimberley and Top End due to a
humid unstable airmass and trough both in the lower levels and upper levels of
the atmosphere. Cloud is streaming from this region southeastward over
Queensland and northeastern New South Wales connecting to another cloud band
with embedded showers and thunderstorms over the Tasman Sea that is associated
with a cold front and trough.

Speckled cloud is visible behind the cold front over Bass Strait and Tasmania
which depicts a cold airmass. Southerly winds are bringing areas of low cloud
across the Bight and southern Western Australia coast.

Cloud associated with Tropical Cyclone "Kate" can be seen northwest of Western
Australia near Cocos Island.
