Tropical Cyclone "Marcus" (Category 2) is now near Darwin with extensive shower
and thunderstorm activity. The monsoon trough extends from "Marcus" across
Torres Strait to a small tropical low between Peninsula QLD and Papua New
Guinea. Patchy low cloud lies across Cape York due to a moist onshore airmass.

Further south, middle and high level cloud is over the Bight, southern South
Australia and Victoria. This is the result of a jet stream and an upper trough.

A strong cold front is over southwest Western Australia with a pronounced pool
of cold air in its wake depicted by the speckled cloud.

The interior of the continent is mostly clear.
