The subtropical ridge is keeping southern and central Australia largely cloud
free. The low cloud along the Victoria and New South Wales coast is due to an
onshore southeasterly wind flow directed by the ridge.

A surface trough over Queensland extending over New South Wales has produced
thundertsorms within the vicinity.

Further north, isolated thunderstorms have developed over the Cape York
Peninsula, Top End and northern Western Australia in a moist air mass.
