IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for the 1800UTC Chart Issued at 5:42 am EDT Friday on 22 February 2019 Tropical Cyclone "Oma" is situated over the Coral Sea, well away from the Queensland coast. A large area of convection including thunderstorms surrounds the system. Middle to high level cloud can be seen streaming from the cyclone to the south, and then continuing past the North Island of New Zealand. A ridge of high pressure over southern Australia is directing a moist onshore flow over NSW. This has led to low level cloud along the coast and Dividing Range. Low cloud is also visible on and south of the ranges over eastern Victoria. Low and middle level cloud over Tasmania is due to a weak trough. A broad trough of low pressure extending from the Interior of WA to the north and then across the northern NT is producing middle level cloud and areas of thunderstorms. An area of thunderstorms is visible off the Queensland east coast, north of Cairns. The remainder of Australia is mostly clear due to a break in the monsoon and ridges of high pressure in the south.
