A patchy widespread cloud band stretches across southeastern parts of the
country with embedded showers and thunderstorms. The cloud is associated with a
broad cold front near Tasmania and a surface trough that extends through
southern parts of the continent.

The remainder of the continent is mostly clear under the influence of a high
pressure ridge.
