A low pressure trough lies across northern Australia, with the embedded
EX-Tropical Cyclone Alfred just south of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Enhanced
showers and thunderstorm activity is still evident near the ex-TC, mostly over
northern QLD. Middle level cloud from the outflow of ex-TC Alfred is also
present over most of central QLD. Higher based cloud can be seen streaming over
southeast Queensland, brought along by an upper level jet stream.

In the south, a cold front over southern South Australia has produced a cloud
band with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Low level cloud present over
western Tasmania and the far southwest of WA is directed by a dry southwesterly
airstream.
