Thick cloud with embedded thunderstorms is moving through central Australia,
associated with a cold front and cut-off low pressure system. Cold low cloud is
streaming up from the Bight in the wake of the system.

A surface trough ahead of the cold front is generating broad instability, with
thunderstorms and mid-to-high cloud being picked up by the subtropical jetstream
and flowing towards NZ.

Areas of high cloud also for parts of south-west WA ahead of an approaching cold
front. High cloud for tropics, thickening across the Gulf of Carpentaria.
