An extensive cloud band with embedded thunderstorms stretches over most parts of northern and central Australia and southern Queensland. This cloud is associated with a low pressure trough, supported by a trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere. The cloud band extends over NE NSW to a cold front over the Tasman Sea.
Cooler southerly winds behind the cold front are resulting in areas of low cloud about the southern coasts of eastern Australia. A second cold front is moving across Tasmania.
A cloud band with embedded showers and thunderstorms over central parts of WA is associated with another trough and a complex of low pressure systems.
