IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 1800UTC Chart Issued at 5:06 am EST Monday on 23 May 2022 A surface trough along the New South Wales coast is driving convective showers and an area of cloud along the coastal fringe of the state. A weakening cold front is moving off the south coast of Western Australia with embedded thunderstorms over waters. As associated active trough is approaching the southwest of the state from the west in the post-frontal flow. A surface trough towards Christmas Island and an associated upper-level feature are responsible for a band of cloud across the Pilbara and the interior of Western Australia. Subsidence from a near-stationary high over Tasmania is leading to low cloud across the state. The remainder of the continent remains mostly cloud free.
