Satellite Notes for the 1800UTC chart on 26 November 2014

Issued at 5:09 am EDT Thursday on 27 November 2014

A broad area of low pressure extends from southwest WA to the Northern Territory and then down to southern Queensland and northeastern NSW. This is generating an extensive cloud band, with embedded thunderstorms particularly in the west. A middle to high level cloud band, associated with a jetstream, extends across the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand. Isolated thunderstoms are evident off the NSW coast.

Cool southwesterly winds are resulting in areas of low cloud over much of Tasmania and near the south coast of Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
