A broad area of middle and high level cloud with embedded thunderstorms across
central and northern WA and over the Indian Ocean is caused by an upper level

A trough in the east is generating a cloudband with rain areas and embedded
thunderstorms evident. This cloudband extends further eastwards into the Tasman

Shower and thunderstorm activity can also be seen over the waters across the
tropical north of the continent.

An extensive high pressure system in the Great Australian Bight keeps the
remainder south of the continent mostly cloud free. However, some patches of low
cloud are lingering about the southeast coast in a moist southerly flow.
