A broad low pressure trough arcs across tropical northern Australia and down
through NSW. This trough combined with humid northwesterly winds is triggering
isolated thunderstorm activity over the tropics and patchy cloud over the
region.

Further south patchy low cloud sweeps along the country's south coast with a
moist onshore flow. Low cloud also extends along NSW's coast and adjacent areas
with the onshore flow driven by the inland trough. Smoke from fires over
southeastern Australia can be seen extending over the Tasman Sea.
