A broad area of low pressure dominates the northern half of the continent with a trough extending from the far southwest corner of WA, through the Kimberley region, across the Northern Territory's Top End and then down through southern Queensland and into NSW. This system is generating patchy mid level cloud and isolated thunderstorms across the tropics and through southern parts of WA.
Areas of low cloud are evident near the coast over the southeast of the country in a moist southeasterly airstream.
