Issued at 11:26 am EDT Saturday on 06 February 2016

A low pressure trough extends from the Kimberley in Western Australia, across
the tropical north to a broad area of low pressure over the eastern Queensland,
triggering extensive areas of showers and thunderstorms. A band of middle and
high level cloud extends along another trough from the Queensland coast to Coral
Sea and into a deep low pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea.

A high pressure ridge centred near Tasmania is directing a moist onshore flow
and areas of low cloud to the New South Wales coast, eastern Victoria and
Tasmania.

Operations Notices

  • From 4 Dec 2015 MTSAT data is no longer received via direct broadcast. The Bureau continues to receive MTSAT imagery via FTP, however this has a greater latency. Please use the new high resolution satellite viewer for superior performance.
