A trough and front with an associated cloud band extends from eastern Queensland
towards the north island of New Zealand. Extensive smoke areas from the
northeastern NSW and southeastern QLD bushfires are visible extending to the
east.

Onshore flow is generating low cloud over southeast parts of the continent and
also far southwest parts of WA. Meanwhile an upper trough over inland parts of
the northwest is generating mid-high level cloud with isolated thunderstorm
activity. The far north has speckled cloud over mainly coastal parts.

Lastly, a cold front embedded in a vigorous westerly stream to the south of the
mainland is extending a broad area of mid-high level cloud over Tasmania and
adjacent southern waters.
