An area of cloud with embedded thunderstorms over Tasman Sea and central NSW
coast is generated by a trough and a low pressure system in the Tasman Sea. A
band of middle level cloud over eastern Queensland and northeast New South Wales
is associated with an upper trough.

A surface trough near the west coast combined with a mid level disturbance over
western and central Australia generates areas of middle and high level cloud.

Low level cloud over coastal areas of southern NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and
eastern South Australia is associated with a moist southerly airstream
associated with a strong high pressure system south of Adelaide.
