An area of cloud over Victoria and Tasmania is associated with a low pressure system over Bass Strait. Isolated thunderstorms are visible over parts of Tasmania and Bass Strait.
Another area of cloud extends from northern QLD to the central NSW coast, with thunderstorms off the coast is associated with a trough in the lower to middle levels of the atmosphere.
An extensive cloud band over the far southwest corner of WA is associated with a vigorous cold front that is approaching the area.
Remaining areas of the country are mostly clear due to a strong high pressure system.
