IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 0000UTC chart 20 January 2017 Issued at 12:40 pm EDT Friday on 20 January 2017 A surface trough extends from the Pilbara district of Western Australia through central South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria to a deepening low pressure centre over northeastern Tasmania. An extensive area of middle level cloud is seen in the vicinity of the trough, with thunderstorm activity embedded in this cloud. Low cloud is seen south of the trough over the remainder of SA, VIC and Tasmania. A moist north to northwest windflow covers a broad area to the north of the trough, triggering thunderstorms over northern WA, the Top End in the Northern Territory and the northern parts of Queensland.
