IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 0600UTC Chart Issued at 6:08 pm EST Tuesday on 16 August 2022 A cold front with an extensive band of cloud extends from the Gascoyne district of WA to the Esperance coast and further south into the Bight. Speckled low level cloud, behind the cold front, covers the western districts and the southwest of WA. An upper level trough is helping to drag the moisture into this frontal system from the Indian Ocean. Another upper level trough, over the southeastern part of the country, is generating areas of mainly low level cloud over southeast SA, Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and southeast Qld. Further east, a cloud band in the eastern Tasman Sea is associated with a developing subtropical low expected to pass over Norfolk Island tonight bringing heavy rain, dangerous surf and damaging wind gusts to the island. The rest of the country is mostly clear under the influence of a slow moving ridge of high pressure over SA and the central part of the country.
