Scattered monsoonal thunderstorm activity is evident about northern tropical areas and over the Coral Sea. Enhanced thunderstorm activity can be seen near a tropical low south of the tip of Papua New Guinea and also near another low north of the Gulf of Carpentaria.
An area of thunderstorm cloud is near Sydney.
An area of cloud over southern Victoria, Bass Strait and northern Tasmania is from an infeed of moisture in easterly winds supported by an upper level trough.
Low-level cloud over the Bight is trapped under a subsidence inversion driven by the high pressure system.
Scattered mid-level cloud is over central areas of the country.
