A broad, slow moving high pressure system centred over the southeast of South Australia dominates the synoptic pattern. This is keeping skies mostly clear across the east and north of the continent, apart from some patchy low cloud over the southeast corner of the mainland and Tasmania.
A few isolated showers remain along the northern New South Wales and southeast Queensland coasts in a southerly onshore flow.
A weak upper-level trough is generating a band of patchy cloud with isolated showers across Western Australia, South Australia and the Bight.
Elsewhere, a broad area of convective cloud lies over tropical waters to the north of Australia, while a cold front connected to a deep low over the Indian Ocean is approaching from the far southwest.
