The Sub-Tropical Ridge, or the belt linking the high pressure systems, stretches across the middle of the continent. Embedded cold fronts and troughs with associated cloud are south of this in the vigorous westerly airstream over the Southern Ocean. A cold front has just reached western Tasmania.
A line of jetstream cloud stretches from southern Western Australia scross southern South Australia, northern Victoria and southern New South Wales.
Some middle level cloud is visible over the Kimberley region, WA and also over Cape York Peninsula.
