A jetstream and upper level trough is resulting in a mass of middle and high level cloud, mainly over Queenslands north, with a surface pressure trough extending over the Tasman Sea. Isolated thunderstorm activity is evident over the Cape York Peninsula.
Scattered thunderstorm activity over the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia and western parts of the Northern Territory is associated with a broad area of low pressure and a surface trough.
Low cloud in the wake of a cold front can be seen over Tasmania and along the south coast of Victoria and eastern South Australia.
High cloud associated with a jet stream extends from the Indian Ocean across the central western coast of WA.
The remainder of the country is under mostly clear skies.
