A broad area of low pressure is generating patchy mid level cloud, with showers and isolated thunderstorms, over much of Western Australia and the Northern Territory. There is also some patchy high level cloud extending further east across South Australia.
High cloud is also streaming across the southwest of Western Australia due to an upper level jet stream. This high cloud connects to a cloud band with showers and isolated thunderstorms along a surface trough, which moving into the Bight.
The eastern states are under mostly clear skies due to a slow moving high pressure system that is situated over the Tasman Sea.
