IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 0600UTC Chart Issued at 6:55 pm EDT Wednesday on 08 February 2023 Severe Tropical Cyclone "Freddy" is situated well off the coast of Northern Western Australia in the Indian Ocean while Tropical Cyclone "Gabrielle" lies to the east of Australia in the Coral Sea. Both systems have bands of active convective cloud surrounding them. A trough extending across the Top End, into a low in the Gulf of Carpentaria and across into the Coral Sea is associated with scattered cloud with embedded convection to the north of the trough. A broad layer of cloud is present to the north of a trough that extends from southeast Northern Territory into southwest Queensland and into central New South Wales. This cloud covers most of Queensland, parts of the Northern Territory and northeast NSW. Another trough extends from the Gascoyne district to the Southern Interior district of WA with areas of low cloud near the trough. Low level cloud is also present along the coastlines of eastern Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, southeast SA and over Tasmania due to a moist onshore flow. The rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
