An upper level trough has produced a middle to high level cloud band which
extends across eastern Australia. Patchy middle level cloud over northern WA is
also associated with this upper trough.

A high pressure system south of WA is directing a moist southerly onshore flow
over southwest WA producing low level cloud about the coast. Similarly, a moist
onshore flow over southeast Australia has produced a broad low level layer of
stratiform cloud over coastal southwest Victoria and western Tasmania.

The cloud band west of Tasmania is associated with an approaching cold front.

High pressure is keeping the remainder of the continent mostly clear.
