A patchy widespread cloud band stretches across the Great Australian Bight
brushing southern coastal parts of WA and SA, before extending over VIC,
Tasmania and southern NSW. Embedded thunderstorms area occurring within this
cloud band over southwest VIC and offshore through Bass Strait. The cloud is
associated with a broad cold front to the northeast of Tasmania and surface
trough that extends through southern parts of the continent.

The remainder of the continent is mostly clear under the influence of a high
pressure ridge.
