Moisture is feeding into the Pilbara region of Western Australia from a weak tropical low near Christmas Island. This moisture infeed is combining with a broad upper level trough and is resulting in a cloud band stretching from the Pilbara across central Australia to the north coast of NSW and over the Tasman Sea. Isolated thunderstorms are evident within the cloud band over parts of Western Australia and central Australia. Further north, scattered cloud over the Kimberley is due to the remants of thunderstorm activity from yesterday afternooon.
A cold front is crossing Victoria and Tasmania with burst of cold air behind the front approaching the west coast of Tasmania. Areas of low cloud remain along the southern coast of Australia due to onshore winds.
