A strong cold front is impacting southeast Australia with a surge of cold air
behind it causing isolated thunderstorms along southern coasts. This front
connects to an deep low pressure system southwest of Tasmania. A cloud band
ahead of the front lies along a trough extending over eastern Victoria and
Tasmania.

A trough over the Coral Sea is generating an area of shower and thunderstorm
activity. Patchy low cloud extends over parts of the east coast.

The remainder of the country is generally clear due to a ridge of high pressure
extending from the west.
