IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 1800UTC Chart Issued at 8:40 am EST Sunday on 02 April 2023 Severe Tropical Cyclone "Herman" is located in the Indian Ocean, well south of Christmas Island. A significant region of middle and high level cloud covers most of central and southern Western Australia propagating east through central Australia to the central Queensland coast. A heat low on the Northern Territory and and Western Australia border has a heat trough extending south along the Western Australian coastline, with thunderstorms associated with it. Another trough extends from the heat low south along the Western Australia and Northern Territory border with convection associated with it. A third heat trough extends from the heat low through the Top End in the Northern Territory, although conditions are mostly settled there. A trough extends from the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland, to southeast Queensland. Cloud with embedded isolated thunderstorms associated with this trough. A trough off the coast of NSW is associated with storms and showers in the coastal waters of much of NSW. High level cloud can be seen over the southwest of Tasmania. The rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
