Further to the north, a cloud band extends from central parts of the Territory to the southeast of Queensland and the far northeast of New South Wales. This cloud is due to an upper trough. Patchy low cloud remains about southern coastal areas of Western Australia while an extensive cloud band lies off the WA west coast and is due to another upper trough.
