A surface trough and a strong upper disturbance are generating a significant
cloud band that extends from the Gulf of Carpentaria across northern Queensland
to a cold front and low pressure system over the Tasman Sea.

A mass of cold air has brought low cloud to Tasmania, southern Victoria and the
New South Wales coast.

A weak surface trough over the west of Western Australia and a cold front over
the Bight is causing a band of patchy low to middle level cloud. The remainder
of the country is relatively cloud free due to a large high pressure system.
