IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for the 1800UTC chart 24 May 2016 Issued at 5:44 am EST Wednesday on 25 May 2016 A strong cold front is crossing the southeast of Western Australia. The front extends south and connects with a deep low over the Southern Ocean. High level cloud can be seen streaming ahead of the main frontal band. Further east, a field of cold air lies across the Tasman Sea in the wake of another strong cold front. Thunderstorm activity is evident in this "speckled" cloud. A similar pattern is also visible over the southwest of Western Australia. Cloud over northern and central Queensland and the Coral Sea is due to an upper trough to the west.
