A surface trough stretches across central WA and to western Queensland then
south along South Australia's eastern border. The trough is combining with an
upper trough over WA and a jetstream over the NT to generate thunderstorms and
middle level cloud in those areas. Other mid-level cloud over southeastern
Australia is the remnants of yesterday's thunderstorms.

A moist tropical airmass and a trough stretching from southern parts of WA to
the Top End is producing patches of low level cloud and isolated thunderstorms.

Southerly winds are causing low cloud over the Great Australian Bight and parts
of the South Australian coast, while a weakening cold front is crossing southern
Bight waters.
